“The Pursuit Of Happiness Makes You Unhappy” – On Happiness Part 4

“People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life… I think that what we’re really seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonance within our innermost being and reality, so that we can actually feel the rapture of being alive.”
– Joseph Campbell

“One can pursue forever and never catch,” Chea said, imitating running with two fingers going round and round in front of her. “We teach you how to catch.”
– Chea Hetaka

(If you haven’t read part 1, 2 and 3 in the series ‘On Happiness’, no problem, this post still makes sense. But, if you like this post you may want to go back and check out part 1, 2 and 3).

___

The opposite of happy is not sad, just like the opposite of love is not hate, those are just two sides of the same coin.

We have learned to love viewing the world in black and white. We think doing so makes life simple.

Putting things in nicely labeled boxes gives us a sense of security, safety, normality. A false sense, but a sense none the less.

“You’re either with me or you’re against me.”

The problem with this universally adopted world view is most eloquently presented by George Lucas as the answer to the above statement:

“Only a Sith deals in absolutes.”

While I have a bit of a problem with this statement, it so nicely makes the point of our incessant need to paint the world black and white.

But, there are absolutes in the universe which do not come from darkness.

“You either do or don’t do, there is no try,”

is just one example of an absolute coming from the grand master of light, at least in the Star Wars universe.

However, since we literally judge everything we encounter, we often don’t really know anymore what is light and what is dark, at least until we learn to know ourselves.

Consider this: the opposite of love is indifference and the opposite of happy is boredom.

Song can be sad, but Song is never bored.

If you are bored out of your skull, you’re running a mask. If you’re sad, it can be either.

Song can be very sad, but masks can take that sadness and turn it into whatever they choose, if we let them. And before we know it, we can wallow in a deep dark pit wondering how the heck we got there.

On the other hand, Song is never bored, it’s an oxymoron.

You cannot feel your Song and know and experience the wonders and aliveness of your being and everything around you and your connectedness with it and be bored at the same time, it’s just not possible.

You cannot feel the rapture of being alive and be bored at the same time.

We do not pursue happiness for the sake of happiness. It’s not a means to it’s own end, not primarily anyway.

We pursue happiness because it’s the doorway to heaven.

As Kay shares with her students:

“You learn to access your Song through feeling sensations that are happy, fun, exciting, passionate, loving. These feelings HELP YOU TOUCH INTO the great vastness of your Song.

It is as if these feelings floated on the surface of your Song – like a magical doorway into a world of incorruptible aliveness and antiquity, vast, knowledgable, nourishing, whole, private – indestructible.”

A bit ironically, allowing ourselves to feel happy helps us to explore and learn our Song, and knowing, truly knowing and owning our Song makes us understand and appreciate true happiness.

That’s why we talk so much about happiness.

To blindly believe that the pursuit of happiness makes you unhappy, as the newsletter about the problem with happiness is trying to convince it’s readers, closes the doorways into the magical world of your Song, a world of incorruptible aliveness and antiquity, vast, knowledgable, nourishing, whole, private – indestructible.

I don’t know about you, but I like the sound of that world too much to take on someone’s blind belief about the pursuit of happiness making me unhappy and in so doing close the door to that world of utter wonder.

So what’s really in our way?

Our greatest obstacle to a life of happiness is fear.

Out of fear we can’t let go of what’s keeping us in a fog, asleep, and because we can’t let go our lives are driven by focusing on what we perceive is wrong.

We dwell on what’s wrong with us, what’s wrong with others, what’s wrong with the world, and on and on and on 24/7.

We identify with what’s wrong all the time.

We judge anything and everything.

As a result there is no room left for happy and consequently no room for knowing self, for knowing Song, for identifying with our own Song.

The powers that be love our addiction to “wrong”.

The more we focus on wrong the more disconnected and isolated we are, the more fearful we are, and the easier we are manipulated. The easier we are manipulated the more money and power they gain.

To resist that influence and manipulation we need to stop our addiction to wrong and we need to know ourselves.

“To resist the influence of others, knowledge of oneself is most important.”
– Teal’c / Stargate SG1

The real irony is that the simplest and most powerful solution is available to us at any moment.

CHOOSING TO LET GO.

That’s right, just let go.

Acknowledge it’s existence, whatever wrong you believe you are seeing and experiencing, acknowledge it’s existence, and CHOOSE TO LET GO.

Let go of the lies. Let go of your addiction to “right and wrong”, to “judging”, to “condemning”, to “incessantly focusing on what you think is wrong with everyone and everything”, including yourself, and start focusing on what’s right and beautiful.

Start focusing on feelings of happy and learn to understand those feelings as a magical doorway into a world of incorruptible aliveness and antiquity, vast, knowledgable, nourishing, whole, private – indestructible.

The wonders which await are indescribable – literally.

No, everything isn’t hunky dory, god knows we have our problems, but god also knows focusing on those problems 24/7 does not solve them, it often only magnifies them.

You become and create what you think about most of the time.

Focusing on happy leads to knowing our Song, eventually.

Knowing our Song provides solutions to our problems we cannot even imagine just yet.

For starters, a people knowing Song cannot go to war with anything, least of all themselves.

You’re always able to make a new choice – you’re life isn’t constrained by the choices you’ve made in the past, it’s constrained by the choices you’re not making right now.

I suggest to choose Song and see what’ll happen. We’ve chosen everything else for a long time now and look where it got us.

Humanity is not the scum of the universe. In fact we’re quite unique and amazingly so.

Unfortunately throughout our evolution we have inherited some rather dysfunctional behaviors and even some dysfunctional strands of DNA, but those are not the only strands of DNA we’ve acquired.

We are capable of so much more, we are capable of magic in ways and on a scale which can mesmerize the universe, we just need to learn to LET GO and activate the truly magical strands of our DNA and the world we live in will never be the same, ever.

And it all changes with knowing Song and the pursuit of Song starts with feelings of happy.

So how can you, or would you like to, shift your focus from what you perceive as wrong and let go of whatever less fortunate energies and thoughts you are hanging on to?

If you feel like sharing, below is the link to do so.

And remember, “the most important thing we can do for ourselves and the world is to let ourselves be happy.”

Love and Song,

Helmut

Song Happy – Mask Happy – On Happiness Part 3

“The passion is your Song. To feel the passion is to feel and know the Song that is your own Spirit’s vibrations. The experience of this is the foundation of Ka Ta See. When you are balanced you will all the time feel that way. But just because you feel this does not mean you are balanced.”
– Domano Hetaka

I know I mentioned in the last post that we’ll look at more blind beliefs about happiness in our modern culture using the newsletter about the problem with happiness as a guide.

But before we continue with that I wanted to share something really important, really, really important: understanding the difference between “Song Happy” and “Mask Happy”.

There are a great many pitfalls we can get stuck in for any length of time when we pursue waking up, when we pursue knowing Song.

A sensation of happiness provided by our masks is one of those pitfalls.

Following is a piece from a lecture Kay gave to her Study Group about that very problem and how to not fall into the “Mask Happy” trap:

FEELING HAPPY, HAVING FUN, FEELING GIDDY?

Your masks use the lingo and concepts of your activities and new traditions very easily and very well.

This is where it can get sticky for people really trying to learn this Ka Ta See path and live it.

These are the masks that have figured out how to let their captive human “Feel Happy Things”, have some “Fun”, but still have the masks be in the driver’s seat. They have their human believing that any “Happy Sensation” is full fledged being-in-Song.

Here is where the confusion is.

You learn to access your Song through feeling sensations that are happy, fun, exciting, passionate, loving. These feelings HELP YOU TOUCH INTO the great vastness of your Song.

It is as if these feelings floated on the surface of your Song – like a magical doorway into a world of incorruptible aliveness and antiquity, vast, knowledgeable, nourishing, whole, private – indestructible.

The dominant feeling quality of your Song is a joyous sensation, that’s why you can access your Song, your Beingness, by allowing yourself to feel these pleasant things.

But – these pleasant things are not synonymous to the TOTALITY OF YOUR SONG. These pleasant feelings are only, if you let them be, a spring board, a touching-in place, a magical doorway, into experiencing your Song and learning the secrets about your Self.

Just because you feel something “Fun” or “Giddy”, or “Funny”, or even “Happy”, does not necessarily mean you are feeling deeply into your Song or exploring its wondrous depths. Masks can learn to let you feel these things also and still keep the real Song hidden.

These feelings do not necessarily equate with IDENTIFYING WITH YOUR SONG.

Don’t let your masks trick you into jumping to conclusions or making assumptions.

You might be identifying with “Happy”, “Fun”, “Play”, “Excitement”, “Falling In Love”. Which is better than feeling and identifying with anger, suspicion, hatred, treachery, violence, etc. – but a mask is still in the driver’s seat.

When masks are letting you feel happy it’s as if you are in a bubble – you are still isolated, disconnected, relating only to the mask. Everything is shallow, stagnant, all the same and very much like being in the stupor of a drug.

Some students act as if Song is some kind of baggage they are carrying around with them, as if it were something that they set down someplace and forget about and then walk away from.

When feeling happy is connecting you to your Song, or you are feeling the genuine happy sensations of your Song, you are able to experience the connectedness to all beings around you, you are able to feel the depth and diversity of your own Song and a feeling of being deeply in-love with your Song, yourself, and deeply in-love with all the beings around you.

It’s always fresh, active, real; the connection is two way, dynamic and alive.

The signatures of your Song and the Beings around you are distinct and vibrant.

Don’t let this mask activity trick you.

Don’t let this discourage you.

You can distinguish which is which by the signatures and the depth and diversity of the experiences.

Always go back to the signatures.

– Kay Cordell Whitaker (Studies Group)

Remember we keep saying, the waking up is going to happen, whether we want it to or not, or whether we believe in it or not.

It will happen. Humanity is on a path to wake up.

If we learn to own “Song Happy”, it’ll make a world of difference how we all, collectively, get there, making it all that much easier, smoother and swifter for everyone.

I have no way of knowing what your beliefs about our future are.

You may look around and see all the bleak reality of violence, power over, non-caring; abounding economical and ecological disasters; governments in league with organized crime, or government and organized crime being one and the same, together ravaging and pillaging on the back of the poor, the less fortunate, the have-nots.

You may buy the apocalyptic fare of the religious nuts and truly believe that the great reckoning is at hand and we are facing imminent destruction and only the true believers will survive.

While I like to think it’s likely you don’t believe any of this, otherwise you might not be reading our material, any and all of these things might still be effecting your beliefs about who we are and what’s to come.

These are scraps of little belief remnants that stick to the walls of our subconscious.

Whatever the case may be, I promise you, knowing “Song Happy” and carrying it throughout your waking hours, no matter what, will make a night and day difference as to how things on our path of waking up will unfold.

Know your Song, know yourself and flood the world with its vibration and you’ll create a different form of harmony all around on a scale you may not even be able to imagine just yet.

Domano and Chea always reminded Kay that it takes only one person to change the world. One person.

We have a dear friend who is fortunate to be able to travel the world doing little else but spreading Love and Song vibrations, and very much enjoying herself along the way, of course.

We are in awe at her commitment to doing this.

Many of us are not able to just go off to places wherever our heart pulls us.

But we don’t all have to travel the world; we can still spread the same vibration of Song centered knowingness and change, wherever we spend our days, no matter what we are doing.

Commit to it, you’ll be amazed as to what will happen. Commit to it in a way as if your very life, indeed the future of all life, depended on it.

Love and Song,

Helmut
