“Happy No Matter What Anyone Else Thinks”

Wow, what a month, January that is, and we’re almost through February.

I won’t bore you with details, but it’s been quite a ride for us eclipsed by an amazing weekend of ceremony and studies during the first weekend of this month.

We have lots of things planned this year, for now we wanted to share a short video.

It’s fun, but, for us, it’s also an expression what it can at times feel like to be human, to be ourselves, and especially to learn to live Song.

To be who we are no matter what others think is not easy in this world. I’m sure you can relate. We are so indoctrinated to conform, to not make waves, to not stick out.

But that doesn’t mean learning and living who we are can’t be fun, without being concerned about what anyone else thinks. The little Penguin sure doesn’t care.

We’ll share more of what’s to come this year very soon.

To share your own experiences of being who you are in this world no matter what, use the link below.

Love and Song,

Helmut

“The Pursuit Of Happiness Makes You Unhappy” – On Happiness Part 4

“People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life… I think that what we’re really seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonance within our innermost being and reality, so that we can actually feel the rapture of being alive.”
– Joseph Campbell

“One can pursue forever and never catch,” Chea said, imitating running with two fingers going round and round in front of her. “We teach you how to catch.”
– Chea Hetaka

(If you haven’t read part 1, 2 and 3 in the series ‘On Happiness’, no problem, this post still makes sense. But, if you like this post you may want to go back and check out part 1, 2 and 3).

___

The opposite of happy is not sad, just like the opposite of love is not hate, those are just two sides of the same coin.

We have learned to love viewing the world in black and white. We think doing so makes life simple.

Putting things in nicely labeled boxes gives us a sense of security, safety, normality. A false sense, but a sense none the less.

“You’re either with me or you’re against me.”

The problem with this universally adopted world view is most eloquently presented by George Lucas as the answer to the above statement:

“Only a Sith deals in absolutes.”

While I have a bit of a problem with this statement, it so nicely makes the point of our incessant need to paint the world black and white.

But, there are absolutes in the universe which do not come from darkness.

“You either do or don’t do, there is no try,”

is just one example of an absolute coming from the grand master of light, at least in the Star Wars universe.

However, since we literally judge everything we encounter, we often don’t really know anymore what is light and what is dark, at least until we learn to know ourselves.

Consider this: the opposite of love is indifference and the opposite of happy is boredom.

Song can be sad, but Song is never bored.

If you are bored out of your skull, you’re running a mask. If you’re sad, it can be either.

Song can be very sad, but masks can take that sadness and turn it into whatever they choose, if we let them. And before we know it, we can wallow in a deep dark pit wondering how the heck we got there.

On the other hand, Song is never bored, it’s an oxymoron.

You cannot feel your Song and know and experience the wonders and aliveness of your being and everything around you and your connectedness with it and be bored at the same time, it’s just not possible.

You cannot feel the rapture of being alive and be bored at the same time.

We do not pursue happiness for the sake of happiness. It’s not a means to it’s own end, not primarily anyway.

We pursue happiness because it’s the doorway to heaven.

As Kay shares with her students:

“You learn to access your Song through feeling sensations that are happy, fun, exciting, passionate, loving. These feelings HELP YOU TOUCH INTO the great vastness of your Song.

It is as if these feelings floated on the surface of your Song – like a magical doorway into a world of incorruptible aliveness and antiquity, vast, knowledgable, nourishing, whole, private – indestructible.”

A bit ironically, allowing ourselves to feel happy helps us to explore and learn our Song, and knowing, truly knowing and owning our Song makes us understand and appreciate true happiness.

That’s why we talk so much about happiness.

To blindly believe that the pursuit of happiness makes you unhappy, as the newsletter about the problem with happiness is trying to convince it’s readers, closes the doorways into the magical world of your Song, a world of incorruptible aliveness and antiquity, vast, knowledgable, nourishing, whole, private – indestructible.

I don’t know about you, but I like the sound of that world too much to take on someone’s blind belief about the pursuit of happiness making me unhappy and in so doing close the door to that world of utter wonder.

So what’s really in our way?

Our greatest obstacle to a life of happiness is fear.

Out of fear we can’t let go of what’s keeping us in a fog, asleep, and because we can’t let go our lives are driven by focusing on what we perceive is wrong.

We dwell on what’s wrong with us, what’s wrong with others, what’s wrong with the world, and on and on and on 24/7.

We identify with what’s wrong all the time.

We judge anything and everything.

As a result there is no room left for happy and consequently no room for knowing self, for knowing Song, for identifying with our own Song.

The powers that be love our addiction to “wrong”.

The more we focus on wrong the more disconnected and isolated we are, the more fearful we are, and the easier we are manipulated. The easier we are manipulated the more money and power they gain.

To resist that influence and manipulation we need to stop our addiction to wrong and we need to know ourselves.

“To resist the influence of others, knowledge of oneself is most important.”
– Teal’c / Stargate SG1

The real irony is that the simplest and most powerful solution is available to us at any moment.

CHOOSING TO LET GO.

That’s right, just let go.

Acknowledge it’s existence, whatever wrong you believe you are seeing and experiencing, acknowledge it’s existence, and CHOOSE TO LET GO.

Let go of the lies. Let go of your addiction to “right and wrong”, to “judging”, to “condemning”, to “incessantly focusing on what you think is wrong with everyone and everything”, including yourself, and start focusing on what’s right and beautiful.

Start focusing on feelings of happy and learn to understand those feelings as a magical doorway into a world of incorruptible aliveness and antiquity, vast, knowledgable, nourishing, whole, private – indestructible.

The wonders which await are indescribable – literally.

No, everything isn’t hunky dory, god knows we have our problems, but god also knows focusing on those problems 24/7 does not solve them, it often only magnifies them.

You become and create what you think about most of the time.

Focusing on happy leads to knowing our Song, eventually.

Knowing our Song provides solutions to our problems we cannot even imagine just yet.

For starters, a people knowing Song cannot go to war with anything, least of all themselves.

You’re always able to make a new choice – you’re life isn’t constrained by the choices you’ve made in the past, it’s constrained by the choices you’re not making right now.

I suggest to choose Song and see what’ll happen. We’ve chosen everything else for a long time now and look where it got us.

Humanity is not the scum of the universe. In fact we’re quite unique and amazingly so.

Unfortunately throughout our evolution we have inherited some rather dysfunctional behaviors and even some dysfunctional strands of DNA, but those are not the only strands of DNA we’ve acquired.

We are capable of so much more, we are capable of magic in ways and on a scale which can mesmerize the universe, we just need to learn to LET GO and activate the truly magical strands of our DNA and the world we live in will never be the same, ever.

And it all changes with knowing Song and the pursuit of Song starts with feelings of happy.

So how can you, or would you like to, shift your focus from what you perceive as wrong and let go of whatever less fortunate energies and thoughts you are hanging on to?

If you feel like sharing, below is the link to do so.

And remember, “the most important thing we can do for ourselves and the world is to let ourselves be happy.”

Love and Song,

Helmut
