During a recent conversation with my sister she told me that she read my piece on Flying Cows and that in her experience the core of most spiritual traditions talk about the same thing.
Which reminded me of another piece, “What do we do now, we didn’t get dressed up for nothin?”
In that post I not only share that most spiritual traditions have talked about the fundamental truth of us creating our reality, I also ask the question, “What are we going to do about it?”
Here is an excerpt:
“It’s no surprise that this fundamental truth of our existence about who and what we are has been talked about for centuries, millennia even.
The question though is not whether or not we’ve heard about it, whether or not we know about it, the question is, if we do know about it, if we truly do know that we are creating our reality in every moment, what are we all, individually and collectively, doing about it?
All the many times we have heard that our thoughts and feelings create our reality and believed it, what have we actually done about it?
Realizing such a fundamental truth of existence about our reality has enormous potential, but as someone once told me, if we don’t do anything with that potential it means exactly squat.”
So what are we going to do about it?
Are we going to make the commitment to live differently?
Most importantly, are we going to make a commitment WITHOUT A BACK DOOR to live differently?
Can you honestly say you can do that, you can stay with your Song, with love, with beauty, joy, aliveness, honor, valor, nobility, none judgement, no matter what?
Can you make that commitment?
If all those ancient traditions have been talking about us creating our reality for eons, why haven’t we made the commitment yet?
Why are we still focusing primarily on our problems, our differences, on distractions so numerous I would run out of space trying to list them all?
Why is human history continuing to be a history of war and violence and power over, of inequality and the few filling their pockets and thriving on the shoulders of the many?
Why can Faux News continue to emotionally bottom feed and fiercely rally everyone against each other?
Why are so many of our personal lives and relationships not much different?
Mostly because we’ve never made that commitment without the back door.
Doing so would mean no more whining, no more mamby pamby poor me and bad other guy, no more judgement, no more anger, hate, rage or desire for vengeance.
It would mean a life without our psychological mask programming.
It would mean none of our mask behavior would have a chance to get their way anymore and we couldn’t feel the adrenaline rush and the feeling of being better-than when we do judge others, when we do feel anger about someone or something.
It would mean a life without excuses and blaming others.
It would mean we have to give all that up.
It would mean we have to take complete and full responsibility for our every thought, feeling and action.
Now be honest, have you done that, have you made that kind of commitment?
More importantly, can you see yourself making that kind of commitment?
I hope you have answered yes to at least one of these questions, cause if you didn’t we’re in real trouble.
Nothing is going to change unless more and more of us make that commitment with no back door.
Some of the comments in response to our suggestion during one of the oil spill posts to take note of your thoughts when you find yourself gnarling away at something in your head, were about that doing so is too much focusing on the negative.
In all our experience working with students and clients for years we found compelling evidence that if we don’t identify what is captivating our attention, AND make the commitment and decision to stop, nothing will fundamentally change.
We can play spiritual all day long, we can think positive all we want, we can share love and light all we want and yes, it’ll have some impact.
But if we don’t make the commitment not to engage our feelings of resentment, of anger, of hate, revenge and violence, if we are not able to fully commit not to judge anything, not to throw black darts and energies at anything or anybody, without even the slightest possibility to get out of that commitment through a back door, it’s going to be a long long time before our love and light will rule the world.
So, I ask you again, I ask all of us again, have we made that commitment?
Could you see yourself making that kind of commitment?
Not just hearing about how our thoughts and feelings create our reality.
Not just thinking and talking about that all spiritual traditions talk about the same thing, but truly honestly and fully accepting the power of that reality and making the commitment, from this moment forward you will spread nothing but love in the world, even and especially when you are dealing with problems and your masks are ready, willing and able to take control of your attention and throw a tantrum and you in a rage.
Ok, rage maybe a bit too strong a word, but you get the idea.
Your masks may not throw you in a rage every time they take control of your attention, but how often during your day are you finding yourself muttering away at something in your head before you realize you’ve just wasted away your attention on something, for hours on end, something you really truly don’t like to waste your attention away on?
Maybe you’re somewhere in between rage and muttering, the point is you are wasting one of your most precious and powerful resources, the unimaginable power of your attention, the power to change the world for the better, to change your life for the better, to change everyone’s life for the better.
I encourage you to make that commitment without a back door.
Doing so will help a great deal, especially when your resolve to not throw black darts is being challenged so hard you feel your neck veins are ready to pop and you have to pull all your strength and power and attention and focus to stay in your center, to own your Song and move forward from that place with your Song no matter what?
Can you do that?
Most importantly, are you willing to do that?
Let us know.
Song to Song,
Helmut

Boy Helmut how did you get into my head. I do real well “on the outside”. But sometime in my head the judgements can really roll. I have to stop and “rewind” and realize that what I am thinking does not help the situation. You are right we need to lock the back door and send those negative thoughts and feeling out the front door so we can recognize them so they can’t get back in. Does that make sense? Thanks I am sending positive energy to the world and hope our collective work can shed some light on dark places. Love and Song, Donna
I know that what you are saying is true.
I will do my best.
Hello Helmut,
I came to realize just how important our thoughts are, really. While meeting with a friend to discuss a business opportunity, I was so excited. Than my mask was saying how can you start a business with no money? Are people in your town really ready for a Green Earth Friendly Products Store. You must be insane to feel you can do this with literally no money? There it was the voice, the mask. Helmut the beautiful thing is everyone I talk to wants to help. I now see that instead of fear of failing, fear of not knowing everything, any kind of fear is not welcome here. I want to feed my creative venture with joy, laughter, fun, love, compassion ,respect for all my relations.
living gratitude
Ellen
@Donna:
Hi Donna;
We’ve been conditioned to judge everything and everyone for millennia so it’s no surprise that often the first thing we do when we engage someone or something is to judge.
It’s one of habits we need to learn to change and let go.
Thanks for sharing!
Song to Song,
Helmut
@Pamela Melcher:
Thanks Pamela!
I think in addition to doing our best, we need to work on finding out what our best really is, what amazing things we are really capable of and then decide to live from that place all the time.
Song to Song,
Helmut
@Ellen:
Hi Ellen;
Domano and Chea, Kay’s adopted Peruvian grandparents and teachers always said that we worship fear like our good when in reality it is often nothing more than a giant puffed up Mazy’s balloon and all we have to do is take a needle to it and it can be gone.
But we also need to stop the worshipping at the same time and we can start finding magic anywhere.
All the best for your venture.
Thanks for sharing.
Song to Song,
Helmut
